Arsenal youngster Michelle Agyemang has been named in Sarina Wiegman’s squad for Euro 2025.

The 19-year-old forward was the surprise inclusion amongst the 23 Lionesses who will be heading to Switzerland to defend their trophy this summer. She famously made her debut against Belgium in April, scoring after 42 seconds of entering the field and Wiegman stated that “she brings something very different” to their attack.

There is also a place for Lauren James who has been missing with an hamstring injury since April. Wiegman says that the Chelsea star is recovering well and on track to be fit for the tournament.

“We still have a month,” the England manager said. “She is training very well. She is at the point that we hoped she would be at this stage. We don’t see it as a risk. We are just building her.”

England Euro 2025 Squad

The squad will be led by captain Leah Williamson and contains a fine blend of youth and experience. 16 of the players included have played in a major tournament before with 13 being part of the team that lifted the trophy in 2022. Seven players – Agyemang, Aggie Beever-Jones, Grace Clinton, Khiara Keating, Maya Le Tissier, Anna Moorhouse and Jess Park – will be making their debut on the global stage.

With teams able to withdraw up until the first game, Wiegman has named four standby players to train with the squad in the build-up. Sophie Baggaley, Laura Blindkilde Brown, Missy Bo Kearns and Lucy Parker will all meet up with the squad at St. George’s Park on 16 June and will remain until England leave for Switzerland.

The Lionesses will face Jamaica in Leicester for their send-off friendly on Sunday 29 June before travelling to Zurich the following day.
