Match day 9 of the FAWNL Division 1 got underway on Sunday 3rd October as teams looked to build on their starts to the season.

FAWNL DIVISION 1 NORTH
Alnwick Town 0–5 Stockport County
Stockport County made it three wins on the bounce as they eased comfortably past bottom of the table Alnwick Town.
There were five goals with five different scorers as Jess Battle, Emily Bradshaw, Maria Figueiredo, Kenedy Owen and substitute Abi Cheshworth all got on the scoresheet.
Barnsley 4–0 Chester le Street Town
Barnsley earned a much-needed first win of the season as they put four past Chester le Street Town.
They had to wait a while to break the deadlock but did so in the 66th minute through Rebekah Coe. Nat Shaw added two more in two minutes to make the score comfortable before Eve Marshall headed home in the dying minutes to wrap up the win.
Leeds United 5–0 FC United of Manchester
Leeds United returned to winning ways as they cruised past FC United at home.
Never far from the scoresheet, Laura Bartup added two more to her season’s tally inside the first 20 minutes.
Sarah Danby added a third in the second half before Bartup wrapped her hat-trick. Abbie Brown added a final goal as the game drew to a close.
Liverpool Feds 3–0 Bradford City
Liverpool Feds kept track with Leeds at the top of the table with another solid victory at home.
Paige Cole opened the scoring early on before Molly Farley doubled the lead with just over half an hour played.
Cole wrapped up her brace just after the break to ensure the three points stayed at Jericho Lane.
Newcastle United 4–0 Durham Cestria
Newcastle United bounced back from their first defeat of the season as they took on Durham Cestria at Druid Park.
The hosts broke the deadlock when Bethany Guy leapt high to head home Georgia Gibson’s cross. Kacie Elson then doubled the lead in the second half when she converted a re-bounded shot. Three minutes later, Katie Barker added another before Elson capitalised on a mistake to score her second.
Norton & Stockton Ancients 0–0 Chorley

Holwell Sports 6-1 Leek Town
Holwell Sports made it two wins from two with an emphatic victory over Leek Town.
Chantelle Robinson scored a hat-trick while Courtney Cropper got a brace. To add to Leek Town’s woes, Holwell’s sixth was an own goal. Katie Gibbons pulled one back for the visitors in the 69th minute.
Leafield Athletic 2-4 Lincoln City
Lincoln City went top of the league as they battled past Leafield Athletic.
Leah Hardy fired the hosts into the lead with just seven minutes on the clock. The hosts equalised shortly after through Chloe Barker-Duthie. However, Lincoln re-took the lead before the break when Jessica Rousseau smashed home a shot.
Leafield battled early in the second and levelled the score once more through Katie Johnson. But the Imps proved too strong with Hardy sealing her hat-trick in the last 20 minutes.
Long Eaton United 2-2 Sporting Khalsa
Long Eaton United and Sporting Khalsa played out a competitive scoring draw on Sunday afternoon.
It was the visitors who took the lead through Gurjit Dulay. But Long Eaton fought back in the first half to level.
The hosts then took the lead early in the second. However, it was the turn of Khalsa to battle and they ensured a share of the points when Louise Anderson hit with three minutes to play.
Long Eaton’s goals were scored by Lucie Johnstone and Cala Thornton.
Wem Town P-P Doncaster Belles
Peterborough United 2-5 Boldmere St. Michaels
Boldmere bounced back from defeat to comfortably see off Peterborough United.
The hosts battled hard in the first half, and it was they who took the lead early on through Jessica Driscoll. Boldmere, however, hit back within a couple of minutes to equalise through Evie Billingsley. Keir Perkins then continued her run of form to give Peterborough back the lead in the 35th minute.
But Boldmere turned on the style after the break. Stephanie Weston notched a hat-trick before Amelia Kirk wrapped things up in the 93rd minute.
Solihull Moors 5-4 Burton Albion
Solihull Moors ended a run of defeats as they edged past Burton Albion.
It was a goal-fest at the Abacus Lighting Arena, and it was a perfect start for the hosts as they found themselves ahead within two minutes when Kathryn Pagan tapped home. They didn’t have to wait long for their second when Lois Jefferies converted from the spot after Pagan was brought down.
The visitors fought back, however. First, Mollie Garner hit the back of the net before Ella Ritchie levelled before the break.
Jessica Lundie restored Moors’ lead early in the second before Pagan notched her second of the afternoon. But Burton came back once more through two superb hits from Danielle Oxley.
Just as it looked as if the game was heading for a draw, Jefferies found the back of the net in the 90th minute to steal a much-needed victory for her side.

Billericay Town 2-1 Norwich City
Billericay Town continued their hot run of form as they edged past Norwich City on Sunday afternoon.
Shannan Drewe gave the hosts the lead in the 24th minute with her fifth goal of the season. But Norwich hit back before the break through Natasha Snelling.
Billericay left it very late to seal the three points. With four minutes left to play, Jay Blackie stepped up from the spot to convert.
Cambridge United 0–6 Actonians
Actonians bounced back from a couple of poor results to emphatically beat Cambridge United.
Roschelle Shakes handed them the lead early on before Alessandra Barreca doubled the score two minutes later. Barreca scored her second just before the break to ensure the visitors held a comfortable lead.
The goals kept coming in the second half. Justine Buckmire notched a goal before Melia D’Santos, and Jessica Drage rounded off the scoring.
Hashtag United 2–0 Cambridge City
Hashtag United took top spot on Sunday with a solid victory over Cambridge City.
Sasha Adamson scored both goals for the hosts as they registered their sixth win on the trot.
Kent Football United 0-3 AFC Wimbledon
AFC Wimbledon moved up to third with another solid victory, this time away to Kent Football United.
After a goalless first half, Chloe Sampson opened the scoring with 20 minutes to play. Megan Stow then hit a brace to ensure Wimbledon went home with all three points.

FAWNL DIVISION 1 SOUTH WEST
AFC Bournemouth 0-0 Cheltenham Town
Maidenhead United P-P Swindon Town
Portishead 2–4 Exeter City
Exeter City made it three wins on the bounce away to Portishead.
The visitors took the lead within eight minutes when Zoe Watkins slotted the ball home. On the half hour mark, they doubled their tally with Phoebe Baker producing a fantastic strike into the top corner.
Baker added another in the 60th minute before Portishead managed to pull one back through Lulu Watts. Sarah Stacey restored the deficit with four minutes to play. There was still time for one more consolation, however, as Portishead’s Rosie Hill struck deep into injury time.
Southampton Women 6–0 Poole Town
Southampton moved up to third in the table with a big win over league strugglers, Poole Town.
Rachel Okoro opened the scoring with a quarter of the match played, beating the keeper one-on-one. She doubled the lead just before the break.
The hosts carried on the second half with Okoro turning supplier for Sian Wylie to slot home. And minutes later, Chloe Tucker had made it four with a superb header. Lauren Cheshire scored her second in as many games in the 83rd minute before Gracie White rounded off a very good day at the office.
