Canadian international Jade Rose has become Manchester City’s first signing of the summer.
The 22-year-old versatile defender arrives in the north west from Harvard University on a four-year deal that will keep her at the club until 2029. She will wear the number four shirt.
Rose has been a part of Canada’s youth programme since 2017 and represented her nation in the U17 CONCACAF Women’s Championship a year later. She went on to make her senior debut in February 2021 against Argentina in the SheBelieves Cup.
To date, she has earned 28 caps for her nation and is considered one of Canada’s biggest talents coming through. She starred at Harvard, being named to the All-Ivy First Team and All-East Region First Team and the Top Drawer Soccer First-year Best XI.
“I’m so incredibly excited, so proud of how far I’ve come, and I just can’t wait to get started,” Rose said on joining City. “I think the history of the Club, the fans, the style of play, the city, everything [attracted me to City].”
“I’m just super excited to get started. I’m ready to win the Champions Leagues, to win every trophy that’s out there. I think the sky is the limit for this team and I can’t wait to grow and get at it.”
