Emma Coates has named a 23-player England squad for their final two matches of the 2024/25 U23 European campaign.

The Young Lionesses are heading to Spain to feature in the finals of the U23 European League. Having finished outside the top two in Group B, they will not be competing for the title but they will be looking to finish strongly to gain the best possible ranking.

There are first call ups for Manchester City’s Gracie Prior and Bristol City’s Malaika Meena who have both impressed in recent weeks. Georgia Mullet makes her return while Michelle Agyemang and Katie Reid will spend this window with the U19s as they look to qualify for this summer’s European Championships.

“We’re really looking forward to taking part in the European finals and joining the other nine nations for an exciting and competitive week of football,” Coates said. “The WU23s programme has grown a lot of the last few years, and these types of occasions are fantastic opportunities for our players. While it’s disappointing to not have a chance to compete for the title, it’s been another positive season with four WU23s players earning senior call ups. We have tough opponents ahead of us, but we want to finish the season with two strong performances to secure the highest possible finish across the standings.”

The Young Lionesses will face Spain in Murcia on Thursday 3 April (18:00 BST KO). Depending on the outcome, they will then go on to face either Sweden or Belgium on Sunday 6 April, with the location and kick-off time still to be confirmed.
