Tottenham Hotspur announced today that Robert Vilahamn has left the club.
Spurs parted ways with the 42-year-old manager after a disappointing season for the North London club. An 11th placed finish in the Barclays WSL capped off a miserable campaign, with Tottenham failing to win a league match since the end of January.
It was a season that proved to be a marked change in fortune for Vilahamn and his side. After joining in July 2023 from BK Häcken, the Swedish manager guided Spurs to an impressive sixth-place league finish as well as their first ever Adobe Women’s FA Cup Final.
However, with the departure of key players last summer and despite new recruits, they struggled to find consistency and reach the highs of the previous season, finishing just above relegated Crystal Palace.
“My time as Head Coach of Tottenham Hotspur Women has come to an end,” Vilahamn wrote on Instagram. “I’m incredibly proud to have led this amazing club for two years and to have worked alongside such talented players, dedicated staff, and passionate fans.”
Together, we shared many special moments—none greater than leading the team out at Wembley in front of 76,000 people for the FA Cup Final against Manchester United, and, for the first time, beating Arsenal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of our home crowd.
Even though this season brought its challenges, I don’t believe in failure—I believe in learning through experience. These two years have given me so much, both professionally and personally, and I’ll carry those lessons with me as I continue my coaching journey.
Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout this chapter. I wish the club all the best and every success in the future.”
Tottenham’s Managing Director Andy Rogers said in a statement” “There have been some special moments during Robert’s tenure, including reaching the FA Cup final for the first time. However, results and performances this season have not been to the level we would expect and now is the right time to make a change. We should like to thank Robert for his professionalism and efforts over the past two seasons, and we wish him well for the future.”
