Construction has started on a brand new £10 million purpose-built training facility for Manchester City Women.
The 17,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility is being built at the City Football Academy and will mirror the men’s team’s environment.
The project is due to be completed next season and marks the clubs’ continuing investment in high-performance facilities for the women’s side. It will feature a hydrotherapy area, gym and circular dressing room designed to enhance player development. The site has been designed in consultation with experts and to expand over time as the team continutes to grow.
Club captain Alex Greenwood was joined by Charlotte O’Neill (Managing Director), Therese Sjogran (Director of Football) and others to mark the milestone. Each guest signed a club-branded spade which will be stored in the Ccub’s archives.
“I think it’s going to be perfect,” Greenwood said. “We’ve obviously gone from an amazing facility which
has gotten us to this point, but it’s time for us to move on from that now and expand as a team by giving us our own space to work from.”
“Right from the start we’ve been involved quite a lot so we could discuss what’s going to be in there and what’s necessary. From what I know the facilities are going to be the best, which is nothing short of what I expect. I’m excited to see how it’s going to look.”
