England manager Sarina Wiegman has named a 25-player squad ahead of the Lionesses’ UEFA Women’s Nations League double header with Belgium.
There is a first call up for Brighton midfielder Maisie Symonds. The 22-year-old has impressed with her club this season while also catching her eye in recent matches with the U23s. Manchester City goalkeeper Khiara Keating also makes her return to the senior setup.
Arsenal’s Chloe Kelly retains her spot after being called up late in the last window while Nikita Parris also remains. There are also comebacks for Beth Mead and Fran Kirby who missed out in February due to injury.
Lotte Wubben-Moy, Alex Greenwood, Lauren Hemp, Georgia Stanway, Laura Blindkilde Brown and Ruby Mace all miss out through injury.
“It’s good for us to be back together so quickly after a positive start to this year,” Wiegman said. “We have a lot we want to achieve in the Nations League and although we are satisfied with our start in the group, there’s much more work to be done to improve our game. After two very difficult fixtures against them in 2023 we know the challenge Belgium will pose. We will need to be fully focused and perform at our best to get the two results we are looking for. ”
England will host Belgium at a sold-out Ashton Gate on Friday 4 April (20:00 BST) before travelling to Leuven to face the Red Flames again on Tuesday 8 April. Both game will be broadcast on ITV Sport.
