Round 1 of the inaugural edition of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup will kick off in early October with six continental club champions competing for the trophy.
The new competition will open in Wuhan as AFC Women’s Champions League winners, Wuhan Jiangda WFC host Auckland United, the current holders of the OFC Women’s Champions League.
Whoever comes out on top will progess to Round 2 in December against the winners of the CAF Women’s Champions League (to be determined in November 2025) with the venue to be confirmed.
The tournament will then move onto the semi-finals, third-place play-off and final where four teams will meet in a centralised location between 28 January to 1 February 2026. The first semi-final will see the Round 2 winners come out against Arsenal, the current Champions League holders; CONCACAF champions Gotham FC will take on the winners of October’s CONMEBOL Libertadores Feminina in the second.
“As Round 1 approaches, clubs’ fans, the media and football lovers around the globe are preparing to witness history being made, as the first FIFA Women’s Champions Cup commences in Wuhan,” FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström said. “This tournament will bring together the best women’s clubs from every continent under the FIFA banner for the very first time, offering a global stage to showcase excellence, elevate the women’s club game and inspire generations to come.”
