Tottenham Hotspur have announced Norway international Julie Blakstad as their fourth signing of the winter transfer window.
The 24-year-old arrives in North London on a permanent deal following the expiration of her contract at Damallsvenskan outfit, Hammarby IF. She will wear the number 41 shirt.
“This is such a great Club, I’m so excited to start,” Blakstad said. “This is a club with ambitions. I know both the players and staff have high ambitions which I really like. They focus on development, which is really important for me, and I’ve always said I want to play against the best players as often as I can. I can’t wait to meet everyone in the team.”
The left-back returns to England for her second stint in the Barclays WSL after spending two years at Manchester City between 2022 and 2024 and lifting the league cup.
The former Toppserien Young Player of the year went on loan to BK Häcken in 2023 before making a permanent move to Hammarby in January 2024 and immediately became a regular. During the 2025 season, she registered 15 goals and six assists in 26 games as well as making an impact in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
She made her senior debut for Norway at the age of 19, having featured all the way through the youth pathway from U15 level. She scored Norway’s first goal at Euro 2022 before featuring at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
“Julie is a modern, dynamic full-back who brings a real attacking edge to her game,” Spurs Head Coach Martin Ho said. “She combines pace, technical quality and game intelligence with the ability to consistently impact the game in the final third, while still delivering the defensive intensity and discipline required at the highest level. Julie’s bravery in possession, timing of her forward runs and quality of decision-making mean she will regularly influence decisive moments in advanced areas.”
“She was a clear priority for us, and despite strong competition from a number of top clubs in England and across Europe, Julie chose Tottenham Hotspur as the best environment to continue her development. That decision reflects her ambition, belief in our project, and the clarity of our vision.”
